Be Kind

Ephesians 4:29-32 (NIV)

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

I remember when my father was alive he often said to me; “I believe God does not judge things as we do, but He becomes more angry with those of us who talk bad about others, gossip or slander our brothers.  I believe to God these are the greatest sins for they can injure deeper than any wound and last longer.”  Whether God judges these sins more harshly or not I do not know, but what my father said was true.  The hurt can last for generations, start wars, destroy relationships, and do unbelievable damage.  Paul says why not rather be wronged and let there be peace?  Build others up, overlook a wrong, and find anything that would be good or beneficial in them.  Do not let a bitter root grow in your life, forgive and put an end to the thing.  Bitterness can spread to those around you and destroy relationships for generations.  Bitterness cannot be compartmentalized, like a cancer it will spread to all parts of your soul, and destroy you.  Stop it before it starts.  Be kind to others.                     Pastor Jeffery Lane
