Judges 6:12-14 (NIV)
12) When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.” 13) “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” 14) The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
The Midianites had impoverished Israel. Israel was no match for their numbers. This Angel of God comes and tells Gideon he is a mighty warrior and to attack this nation, because God is with him. To which Gideon replies: “excuse me, but if you’re with us why are we in this mess?”
It was a statement of faith in that he understood that if God was with them they would overcome, but the problem was with Israel not God. God calls us to do what we can even though it is not enough to overcome. He allows us to be in impossible situations so He can show His greatness. When we put what we have with what He has it will always be more than enough.
We must take the first step of faith. When God tells us to go in our strength and He is sending us who or what can stand in our way. No power, sickness, financial trouble, government, or any enemy, can stand before you when He is with you.
