Ephesians 6:10-13 (NIV)
10) Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11) Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13) Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
God did not tell us to put on armor, because we are going to a picnic. There is a war going on in the heavens for the souls of men, and in war there are going to be some casualties.
It is because of the sacrifices others have made that we have come to know God. It is prayer that will win the day. Today is Memorial Day and many of us will go on picnics, because others put on armor. We will celebrate their sacrifices in peace, so let us fall to our knees and pray for those who are still wearing armor today.
We honor the dead, but let’s not forget living. May God bless and keep them. May He bring them home to go on picnics with their loved ones. May we never forget those who don’t come home. Father we thank you for those who put on the armor. Amen.
